Why am I so frustrated with ussd codes without any help??

[AC Question]

My Sony Xperia has a problem communicating functions with my service provider.
When I type *144# or any other function beginning with asterisk I get 'ussd code' running. The function returns nothing or the phone hangs!
Please help.
Does it mean my phone has a factory problem?

No it doesn't mean your device has a problem, I've just tried it on mine and it doesn't work either - why are you performing this task?
