Why is my proximity sensor emitting purple?

I have had my new Samsung S7 for 4 months now. I have seen the proximity sensor on upper left red most of the time when its blinking or on. I have seen it turn green on a full charge. Today for the very first time I saw it emitting purple with a red rim. Is this normal? I read that purple is an IR emitter. Its never been purple before. Anyone else see this? Is this normal?
