Facebook app stopped working then messenger app too

[AC Question]

My Fb app news feed has stopped refreshing and when I go into notifications I get the message 'cannot connect' - I must stress there is no issue with my internet connection as all other apps that access the internet work just fine. I then noticed that my messenger app was not refreshing so I uninstalled and re installed the app. Once this was one I was prompted to log back in. When I enter my log in details I get a message saying ' something went wrong. Please try again.' I have tried again so many times and nothing works. Again, definitely not an issue with the internet.
Please advise.

Welcome to Android Central! We've been seeing quite a few posts about problems with the FB app. Try going to Settings>Apps, select Facebook, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. If that doesn't help, you might have to wait until Facebook pushes an update.
