A
AC Question
Ok, so I have kind of a strange question for you guys. I feel very suspicious that what I've been told isn't true, but that's why I'm asking.
So I have a Note 4, on Straight Talk's AT&T SIM. For months I've been having issues with sending and receiving photo texts. I've talked to numerous people in customer service, and they've always helped to change my APN. This has never worked, no matter what I tried.
So, they decide to send me a replacement SIM, hoping that would fix it. I do know that this issue is happening to a lot of people.
Anyway, so I finally get the card in the mail, and go to activate it with them. This is what they tell me.
Apparently, they're saying that they can't activate it and let me keep my number, because we moved towns and they sent me the wrong card for me to keep it where we live now. It will not work in my location with my old number. They said they could activate it if I wanted to CHANGE numbers. But if I wanted to keep my number, they will have to send me yet another SIM in the mail. I asked them why this would work this way, and their answer was essentially "like I told you, it won't work", which makes me also suspicious that they have no idea.
To be honest, my service refills on Monday and if this SIM issue doesn't fix the problem, I plan on changing services. If I don't have to wait for them to send me a new SIM, I don't see why I would want to.
So experts, is any of this true? I just don't understand how it could be. When you buy the original SIM cards, they're in a pack at a retail store. I can't imagine that they are being specially manufactured for each town in the US, or that it would directly correlate to my phone number. People choose "keep your number" options all the time when switching to a new carrier, without having to buy a special SIM.
I'm very confused and just want a few opinions. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd sure like to know what they're talking about. Thanks.
