How to accept a word not in Google keyboard's dictionary?

I would like to accept to a word that isn't in the dictionary without having to add it to the dictionary. How do I do that? For example, in Samsung keyboard I click the check mark to accept, in the Chinese version of Google keyboard you just select the word in the suggestions. However, either of these options are not available (at least default) for the U.S. Google keyboard. Thanks for any help.
