I've converted a cda file using VLC and Windows Media Player, get an "Audio .mp3" with both, but when I try to play it on my phone I get this message.

Why does the phone think this audio file is a video file? How can I get the phone to recognize/play it...?

    Thank you!!

Did you rip the CD files onto your computer before converting them to mp3? A cda file is NOT an audio file... it's a pointer to an audio file on the CD. Here's the wiki.

To get the audio file onto your computer, you need to rip the file from the CD using some application. I'm not sure if VLC or WMP can rip files as I don't use them. My ripper rips CD's to .wav files (it's an old ripper), and then I convert to .mp3 and transfer to my phone.

Why your phone see the files as video files might be due to a conversion error since the converted file came from .cda... no idea.
