Why did my S5 not restore my backed up data from google account?

I did a factory reset after my s5 was acting up after update. I backed-up my data to my google account and checked the box to automatic restore from google account. My contacts were not restored.
2nd, after the update, I noticed that any attachments sent to me in text messages would not download, like attached pics. The attachment stays in the download loop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Google Sync sometimes gives you issues. Keep the auto sync on and sometimes you see the contact after a while if not Just reboot your phone. I hope most of your contacts were stored on Google.
