Incoming texts being delivered as undownloadable MMS?

It wouldn't be as big of a deal if when I hit "download MMS" that it would load the message, but it only says "download failed." Every single time! And it's happening to a ton of messages, only from one person whom I know has a Galaxy Note (one of the newer ones). And to reclarify: it is NOT when I am sending, it is the texts that I am RECEIVING that are converting to MMS that I cannot retrieve no matter how I try. I've also opened it in a different messaging app to no avail. Missing out on a family emergency message to this crap. Anyone???

This is so annoying it happens to me and the person I am sending to also has a note 7 (we both do) and it fails ALL the time and we both have advanced messaging turned on too.. It is VERY frustrating!!!!!

My first question is "what phone and messaging app are you using"? I think the first suggestion would be to go in to the application settings, and clear the cache & data for the messaging app. Let me know. Thanks.

I am using the samsung message app and have AT&T. I just cleared the cache. didn't want to clear the date as it would delete everything including texts i imagine?
