When you have that problem, try to turn on the phone by holding the power key and the home key for a few seconds until you feel a vibration.
If the screen does not come back remove the battery and wait for a few seconds and again put the battery into the phone to turn on, and check whether the problem is solved.
The problem may also occur due to corrupted micro SD card so remove the SD card and check once.
There is a chance of getting this problem due to an app so try to boot your phone in a safe mode.To boot your phone into safe mode, hold the power button and keep pressing the menu key until you get a safe-mode logo.
If all the steps fails to solve the issue perform factory reset.
