Does it need a screen protector

I am on my 2nd screen protector on my Note 7. Are there any that work? Do I really need one?

I've had galaxy 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 and never used one. Never scratched the screen. Ever. But it depends on how you use the device and what environments it's subject to...

Your Note 7 will get scratched on Mohs hardness level 3, so get a TPU/PET screen protector.
