Google play services and Google play store stopped as of Marshmallow Update

[AC Question]

Ever since updating to Marshmallow I get two error messages every 5 seconds saying that "Google play services and Google play store stopped." I can still use anything that uses google play services other than the google play store, I just constantly get the error messages. I have tried clearing caches, uninstalling updates, installing APKs but nothing is working. I even booted in recovery and cleared the phone's cache. I am completely stuck and have no idea what else to do. Please help, my phone is basically unusable unless I disable google play services.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Do you know if it originally came with Google Play Store preinstalled, or did you have to install it yourself?

I have a oneplus x and yes all the Google play stuff came preinstalled.

Does it happen in Safe Mode as well?

It still happens in safe mode as well

Might be some issue with the update. Can you try reinstalling the firmware?

How would I do that?

I'm not exactly sure. Here are the stock ROM images: OnePlus X | Downloads - OnePlus.net. From what I was reading, you might have to install TWRP (a custom recovery) in order to install the ROM.
