Can I put a sim card in if I lost the sim tray?

Bought a Sony d5306.. T2 ultra..recently got the update from kit kat to lollipop..now my media volume doesn't work..plus I found out that I'm missing the sim card tray..so what size is the sim that goes in and is there a way to get a sim card to work without the tray?

The tray itself holds the sim card in, and stabilizes it from "wiggling" around, so I would not expect shoving a sim card in there without the tray would be effective. If it did stay in, without the tray, you would have no convenient way of ever getting the sim card back out of the device, so I would no recommend trying.

As for the media volume issue, what do you see if you go to Settings -> Sound -> Volume?
