Number rings once and disconnects when I call it.

A number I didn't know texted me. The person seemed to know personal information about me from the contents of text, so instead of texting back I called. When I call this number from my phone and others it rings once and says call denied or rings once and disconnects. What is the issue with this particular number? Is it some sort of prank?

Odds are it's a kind of robo-dialer. They probably got your name/number from a marketing list. If you don't know who they are, or what they are referring to in the message, then it's probably a scam.
