Do I need google to text ?

My wife just wants to be able to dial a number or send a text, she has no need for all of those nice things I call apps. She wanted to know If I can delete google and anything else that has nothing to do with texting or calling?

Is Not advisable to delete-Default apps from Google. Members who
have done that..Came back reporting problems in the functionality

of their devices. Each phone comes with a "Messages" default app
We can use that one to Send and receive texts messages..

Yes-Google offers its own Message app called "Hangouts" but
is Up to the user To activated or Not. Also Play Store offers
other Messaging apps, but is our choice used or Not:
