I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and have made extensive use of placing notes with the S-pen on the "back" of pictures. I want to save the pictures on an external storage device. Where are the notes that I put on the backs of the pictures stored on the phone, and after the pictures are saved on an external device how do I see the notes I placed on the back of the pictures? I have a sinking feeling that those notes are only visible while the pictures are on the phone. And even if the notes are able to be saved outside the phone - how do I know which picture they belong to without the phone software?

You don't. There might be apps that save notes to the photo's file, but using the pen isn't one of those ways.

Welcome to Android Central! I'm guessing this is something that only the Note 3's Gallery app can read. The standard EXIF data doesn't include anything like a "comments" field, so I don't see how any other programs could read that information.
