Not receiving text messages

I have samsung galaxy s5..have the lollipop update..but recently, I'm not receiving some text messages that i know have been sent (seen the text on the senders phone).
Also..when I'm in "messages", sometimes typing a message takes a little longer than normal..like it's trying to play catch up to what I'm typing..
I was reading up and I think perhaps I should do a reset on my phone, but I'm worried i will lose my texts, emails and pictures.
Is there anything else that could fix this?

Try installing a different text app.

You could try Google Messenger, Textra, or Chomp SMS.

Also, have you noticed any issues with your cell signal? If you're in areas with poor signal for long enough, you might not get messages sent to you at that time.

I have taken note of that exact thing but what's wierd is those messages, never come through even when I'm in the best service areas??
I will try changing my app
