Is something wrong with my LG K8 V?

I got the phone about two months ago, my iPhone had broken and I saw it as a chance to get out of Apple products. I got this phone because it was decent and I heard it could handle light gaming and in the few reviews I heard it ran pretty well...but mine doesn't seem to. I tried playing Sonic the Hedgehog and a few other simple 2D side-scrolling games but holy frick even they stutter like heck. I tried forcing GPU to improve 2D graphics in developer options which did nothing. Is my phone just a piece of trash or what do I do?
