Music won't show up in default music app

I have downloaded some songs off the internet on my computer, I connect my Galaxy S6 edge via USB and have made it a MTP connection. When I drag and drop to the music to the Music folder the music won't show up in the default music app. When I search through my folders through the phone I can see the songs and play through the entirety of the songs.

Welcome to Android Central! What format are the music files in, and where are you downloading them from? Try going to the App Manager, select the Music app, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Then open it again and wait a few seconds for the database to repopulate. Do you see the music now?
