Why won't notifications sound play?

I have an HTC 10 and I have noticed twice now that my phone will stop playing sound for my notifications, alarms and ring. The temporary fix I have now is to turn my phone off and then back on and they will work again. I'm just using the ones that were on the phone except for my ringtone which is a song I added. Has anyone had this issue and know of a fix that's not temporary? Right now I always make sure I set my regular alarm clock in case my phone decides to not make a sound.
