I have Android operating system 6.0.1 and I can't connect my phone to my pc and selecting developer options and MTP is not providing me with a solution.
    I'm using Windows 10 Home version 1607

You need to install Samsung USB drivers on your PC so it can "see" the phone

I already did that too. So I re-downloaded them and reinstalled them and I still have the same problem.
My PC still can't "Se" my phone.
Oh and I originally asked the question in the first place.

No it does not and I am using the original cable. Plus my old S4 cable and another after market one.

Hmm. Do you still have the S4? If you do, does it connect OK? Another thing to try is a different USB socket on the PC

Nope, sorry no S4. It fell down the toilet. I have now tried the 2 front ones and the 3 back ones to no avail. It has me completely stumped. I can't think of any other solutions to be hones, unless I roll back either Windows OS or if possible the Galaxy OS.

Ive read about win 10 causing this problem although not experienced it myself. Problem is we dont know if its a pc issue or phone issue. Do you have access to another pc? In the meantime can you uninstall the drivers, reboot and then install Smartswitch and see if that detects your phone?

I had the same problem with a Nexus 5. It took a while , but I discovered that my version of Windows was 10N . N means no Media Pack (Media Player, etc). Once that was installed it worked fine
    See here for the discussion

Nexus 5 not recognised by Windows 10 via USB | Page 2 | Android Authority Forums

and here for the media pack

There is also a version for Windows 8

That's normally the problem - Windows 10 doesn't play well with cellphones (which is why I still have a computer running 8 and a laptop running 7).
