Hi i have a new Google pixel xl and a Samsung gear 2 watch are they compatible ? Please help

I have tried gear manager but it will not work on phone

I also tried resetting the Gear 2 to factory defaults. I was unable to connect the two with Bluetooth. Then I powered down the watch and powered it back on and I was able to pair them through Bluetooth. I also installed the Gear S Plugin, but that didn't work either I made sure that both apps had all of the permissions enabled. My watch and my Pixel are paired Bluetooth but the Gear Manager does not find the watch. I'll keep trying and post further results, if any.
