Samsung Galaxy S5 AT&T SM-G900A on 4.4.2, will it ever get an update?

I bought a used Samsung Galaxy S5 AT&T SM-G900A from Glyde. The seller had done a factory reset (as they should) so the firmware is at 4.4.2 (Baseband v. G900AUCU2ANG3). I want to upgrade the firmware but at this point is the current firmware on the phone so out of date that I will never get an OTA or Smart Switch update and I have to flash the ROM to get to a more current version?

You need a valid AT&T sim to upgrade OTA

Assuming the phone is on AT&T (if it's not, you won't get an update), take it to an AT&T Device Support Center (ask for the location of the local one at your AT&T store) and ask them if they can flash it to the current version.
