I have Galaxy J5 (2015) updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1, purchased SanDisk Ultra MicroSDHC UHS-1 Card 32GB, watched several online tutorial's and screen shots but when I inserted the card I didn't get a screen asking Internal or Portable format? It was just accepted and formatted portable, I know how to transfer apps etc to the card manually but I wanted the card used as Internal storage because I've only 8GB of memory.
I'm waiting for Samsung Support to answer my email but if anybody can help me I'd appreciate it. staffs-knot

LG and Samsung as a nice big **** YOU to their customers have disabled Adoptive Storage on their phones. Short of rooting your phone, there is no way to add this feature back.

Does this apply to Sim Free Phones? Looks like I've been screwed again!!! First with Nexus 7 tablet 2015 (no updates) second with Microsoft Lumia 630 again no update (windows 10) When the brown stuff hits the fan it seems a lot hits me also!!!!!

Adoptive storage is both hardware and software dependant. The s7 has the necessary hardware and can be set up via adb

Received this today from Samsung Support: In regards to your recent email, i can tell you that there no such option, you can use the external memory card to save your personal files and documents onto the SD card which will free up some space in your actual internal memory.
This is regarding using SD Card for internal memory for Samsung Galaxy J5 (2015) Marshmallow v6
