No signal on phone?

My sister got the notification that a system update could be installed onto her LG. The update was going and then it read error so her thought was to take the battery out and put it back in. When she turned it the bars have an x next to it. Now that she tries to do the update it says SIM not ready, what should she do?

Bring it to her carrier. They forced an update to her phone and that broke the phone (the "error" notice"). It's their problem now. (It's not a matter of warranty, it's a matter of liability - if they break something they have to fix or replace it.)
