The charging is off and on. I have tried different cords, no help. Cord seems to be loose, no debris in port. I have read that the port is bad and it needs to be replaced, how?

"Cord seems to be loose" Since you've tried different cords, that's a pretty good indication that the port is loose.
But, since you had to ask the question, you'll probably end up with a non-functioning tab if you open it (and you do if you want to change the port). I suggest that you bring it to a reliable (by reputation) repair shop and pay for the work - instead of paying for both that work and th repairs of the damages you caused. It's cheaper. (The port is only about $5-$6, but 5 pins, on 0.1mm centers, have to be unsoldered from the board, then the new port has to be soldered on. Or you have to buy a whole board - which costs around $35 - but you still have to open the tab, move things around, replace the board, move everything back to exactly where it came from, and close the tab up. Even a $100 repair bill is cheap compared with the damage you can cause.)
