Verizon phone unlocked, blocking my Hotspot on Canadian carrier

A

AC Question

I bought an unlocked Verizon V10 on Ebay. I'm on a Canadian Carrier and everything works great except when I try to turn on HotSpot I get a popup stating A Verizon Sim card was not detected so you cannot use Hotspot. (Or something like that)

I'm also rooted on 5.1.1.

Is there anyway around this error on a rooted device?

I've tried some HotSpot apps in the PlayStore that require root but nada.

Most carriers are now charging extra for a tethering (hotspot) account, so no matter which app you install, they're ignoring the data sent from any device other than the phone itself. You can't do anything on your end, the carrier has to make a change on their end (and you have to pay by the month for that).

I"m in Canada. I have free hotspot usage. In Canada the providers don't do that. It's our data, we can use it as we please. But it's a Verizon phone blocking me from doing it.

They are an evil corporation.

The error even states a Verizon Sim IS NOT!! inserted so you can't hotspot.

The fact it ISN'T Verizon means they shouldn't be able dictate what I do with the data. Not the opposite.
