Why can i only hear things on my phone when my earphones are plugged in and how do i fix it

i dropped my phone in water in the side of the plug for the earphones about 1/2 inch. I immedietly tried to power it off and dry it. Ever since then, i have only been able to listen through things on my earphones with some exceptions. My alarm volume still works through the speakers and when i call, i can still hear the ring,but it's on speaker. I think its only my media volume that doesnt work but im not sure. If anyone knows whats wrong or how to fix it please tell me. Thank you
