Why does my S3 only charge with a few select chargers?

I have had my S3 for over a year now and at the beginning it seemed to charge with most chargers pretty well, until a few months later when the only two cables that seemed to work, were the original and my tablet cable. It charges pretty good with those but it's really slow in the process and sometimes doesn't even charge all the way. My phone will only charge if both of these cables are plugged into a wall charger, they will not work on a portable charging box or with a car adaptor. I've tried looking this gs up and cleaning the dust and lint out of the port but nothing seems to work. Also, my battery dies really quick.
