I have had my Samsung galaxy note edge for a year and now its turning off while at 40% battery. I Changed the battery but it just got worse over time. Some repair shops tell me i have to change the motherboard because the battery is still good. Do i really need to change it? Could it be another thing?

We are not phone techs here so we really don't know. An actual tech told you it's the motherboard so that is probably what it is! HOWEVER you might try "conditioning" your battery, that is letting it completely drain, THEN charging it to full.
