Galaxy 5s. How to open the calander while on a phone call

My phone did this in the past, but now when I press the home button, I just get a message that my phone has stopped working. The phone is still connected and working even though the message indicates otherwise. I can't open anything else while on the phone.

Hi, try booting the phone into safe mode and trying the process again of answering a call and accessing the calendar app - if it works fine, then the problem is being caused by an app you've downloaded.
