Why is my headset icon remaining on even after I unplug the headset from my LG G2 D-800 model?

Approx. 2 weeks ago I plugged a headset into the headset jack and it worked fine however when I unplugged it the headset icon has remained on ever since and my ear speaker will not work. If I receive a call have to activate speakers on the bottom to hear. Any suggestions please?

Welcome to Android Central! Look closely in the jack to make sure there isn't any debris in there. Sometimes the tip of a headphone plug can break off in the jack, and that can make the phone think the headphone are always plugged in.
