Why are voicemails in my music app?

On my Galaxy S6 my saved voicemails appear as songs in Amazon Music as well as Play Music. How do I stop this?

Your voicemails are being saved to your phone as MP3 files. The media engine on your phone is grouping them with all the other MP3 music files.

Using a file manager app, go to the folder holding the voicemail MP3 files. In that folder, create a file called ".nomedia". This should stop the indexing of that folder by the media service.

Depending on what music app you are using, you can set it to ignore certain folders.
