Unlock pin and email account on a galaxy 5

[AC Question]

I bought a Samsung galaxy 5 cell phone from a private party. It says I need a pin or the email account of the previous owner. I have neither. Guess I got took. Is there anyway to get past these things or am I just screwed and out of money I paid? Do I chalk this up as a lesson learned? A costly lesson.

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, but there's nothing you can do about that, apart from contacting the seller and asking them to let you sign in with their account so that you can properly remove that account for good.
