Not necessarily. Both units of the Tab A with or without SPen may just be using the same base ROMs hence the inclusion of SPen software, but the SPen needs a special digitizer from WACOM that has the ability to detect the SPen in the first place. I doubt that Samsung included that on the screen assembly for the non-SPen version. However you can try it out. Just find anybody with any Note device (SPen from all Notes work on all SPen enabled devices. A Note 2 SPen could work on a Note 5 screen for example), and try it on your screen. If it works, you can buy an SPen and SPen holder to use.
