Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 weird freeze issue

This is my first post and I've searched high and low but I haven't ran into a solution to this particular freeze issue. OK as noted in the subject line that is the tablet I have, the issue is it works fine but at any given point and it's intermittent it will just freeze. Now to remedy the freeze I can tap the power button twice and everything goes back to normal until it decides to freeze again which can happen at any given time. This is extremely annoying and it started about 6 months ago. I've tried factory resetting it and calling Samsung and Verizon and the best they can do is tell me that the software may be corrupt. It updated to marshmallow a few weeks ago and still freezes. Please help, has anyone else had this annoying issue and is there a way to remedy this without having to deal with Samsung (out of warranty)?
