Transferring edited photo albums from pic to android phone

I have solely been an iPhone user for years and am thinking about converting to the Samsung S7 or google pixel.

Before I do that I want to make sure I can manage photos and music my way.

For music I will be using double twist... but is there a photo equivalent to this for photos. I like to take photos with my device, transfer them to my pic for editing and making albums and then putting those edited albums back on my phone. Could I simply put them on the S7's SD card and they would appear as albums on the phone or would an app be required?

An album is nothing more than a folder containing some photos.
Your phones camera will place the new images in a folder like /dcim/camera/ either on your SD card or the internal storage.
Copying the images from the phone to the computer and back to the phone's SD card is an easy process via the USB connection.
