I have an old Android phone (LG Optimus Elite, model LS696) that I tried rooting and most likely bricked in the process so I'm trying to get the data off of it.

When it's not plugged in, it won't turn on and pressing the buttons in any combination does nothing.

When I plug it in, the LG logo comes on then the phone has a black screen that remains lit and pressing the buttons in any combination still does nothing.

When I plug it into the computer, I do hear the Windows USB sounds, but it's nowhere to be seen in the Device Manager and it's not recognized by data recovery programs.

What can I do to get the phone to be recognized by the PC again? It seems like that is the only way to get the data off of it by myself.
