Removing / silencing group texts on Android 6.0 on LG G4

Does anyone know how to remove yourself from a group text, or at least to silence, group text messages on the LG G4's Android? I do not wish to block due to work relations, but no longer want to be included in these group texts.

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Messaging app and long-press that conversation thread. Do you get an option to go to Settings, and then turn off notifications for that particular thread? This is possible on the Hangouts app (which is what I use for SMS as well).
