Where can I find out the maximum charge current a specific phone can use? Some chargers are only 500mA, but you can get some that deliver 3.4A. At a price. Are they worth it?

What are you hoping a higher current capable charger to do?

If you're hoping the charger will charge your phone faster... it's not going to happen. In electronics speak, your phone is a "load". The charger will only supply voltage and current (power) required by the load. Say your phone requires 5 volts and 500 milliamps to charge. Even if you use a charger that's capable of outputting 5v and 3.4 amps, the phone will still only "ask for" 5 volts and 500 milliamps... because that's all it needs/requires. The high current charger will NOT supply more power to the phone than it needs, and thus the phone will take the same amount of time to charge no matter which of the two chargers you use. About the only thing that can be gained by using a higher amp charger is smoother/better voltage/current regulation.
