Is there any way to bypass autocorrect on a specific, single word (text)?

Autocorrect is a great feature, i don't want to turn it off -- the fact that it selects the word in bold when i hit space. But, on occasion i do want to force in the word i typed and NOT select the word in bold. How do i do that, override the autocorrect for one single case? (For instance recently i wanted to put in the name "Hepner" but autocorrect wanted it to be "helmet"). How to bypass for that case and the sprinkling of others where I want to force something in and not take the correction?

Welcome to the forums. The best option could be adding that word to the dictionary, so it won't be corrected next time. The right steps will depend on your phone/keyboard. In general you can add it from the keyboard settings or if you long press on it.
