Re: my samsung s6 edge has locked me off. i use a finger print to unlock it & i don"t remember my ba
Welcome to Android Central! The backup PIN/password is very important to remember, because the phone will ask for it periodically, even if the fingerprint sensor is functioning normally. According to
Google:
For security, you'll need to use your backup PIN, pattern, or password:
- When your fingerprint isn't recognized after a few tries
- After restarting (rebooting) your device
- After switching to a different user on the device
- After more than 48 hours have passed since you last unlocked using your backup method
So it's a bit surprising that the phone hasn't asked for your backup method before (unless you remembered it back then, and then forgot it now).
Try using Samsung's
Find My Mobile. Google's Android Device Manager won't work to reset the password remotely, because that requires the phone to have no lock method set in the first place.
