I have a mazda mx5 2015. My HTC m8 worked fine with the car & I use that Bluetooth hands free al the time. I just got a HTC10 & now it wont connect to the car...wont even find it when it scans. Dealership says there is no Bluetooth upgrade for 2015, only for 2016 & newer ones with the touchscreens. HTC says too bad. Any ideas? Suggestions? Some way/app to use a different version of Bluetooth on the phone? anything? I still have 4 years to pay for the car & now a major feature is inoperable.

No ideas and both the dealer and HTC are correct.

Bluetooth specifies a method of getting data from one device to another - it doesn't specify what data or how to send it. When a phone gets a new Bluetooth function, an older radio doesn't know about it and won't connect. You may end up putting a new radio into the car, or adding a more modern Bluetooth adapter to it.
