What carrier? AndroidCentral does not run a carrier, it is simply a site of enthusiasts that gather to help each other with questions related to Android and to report the news on Android.

If you're referring to Google's Fi service, I believe you need a compatible phone to complete activation of the SIM card. Compatible phones are the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Pixel and Pixel XL. The list is limited as those devices are controlled by Google and Google can tailor the network switching to work on those devices. If you find a way to get a SIM and activate it, your phone will be restricted to T-Mobile only, removing one of the big reasons to go with Fi in the first place.

If you need additional help or have more questions or details to share, please join the site so you can reply in this thread. See this link for instructions on how to join Android Central.
