Whats the proper way to upgrade/change my mini sd card?

I am getting messages from my phone that I am almost out of memory. I want to change my 16G mini SD to a 32G. Whats the safe proper way to do this and keep all of my information from the 16G card?

Are you sure the messages don't relate to internal memory? To transfer data to your new sd card from the old one it's easiest to use a pc to copy from the old card to the pc and copy and paste to the new one
