why is messenger saving all people's pictures they send me and saves it automatically to my phone

messenger on facebook like my friends they send me messages with pictures on it , the pictures gets automatically saved when I never saved them and I don't know why or how my phone is a Samsung galaxy 4s Verizon wireless

There must be a setting in the app that will allow saving of media...
Have a look around in the permissions settings too in the device

It's a setting in FB messenger. If you go to your profile, then scroll down to Photos & Media, there's an option to save media to the device.

You're welcome! A friend and I only use FB Messenger to chat, and we're constantly sending each other pictures, so I had to figure out how to disable that pretty quickly, because it was saving all our dumb pictures.

Okay i have a question....i keep going to my bfs messenger and the saved photos are always turned off i keep turning them on but its like im battling to keep saved photos on...is he the one that keeps turning it off or can it just over time turn off

How do i turn on auto save if there is no option in the media settings?
