my motorola pure will not properly mount a new sd card.

the card shows up in device storage, showing total available store for internal stage and sd card as "12.62GB total used of 74.53 GB". however, it is not recognized by es file explorer. If I try to download a file it says "your internal storage is running out of space. delete some images or other files". If I try to download a file from whatsapp it says " download failed can't download because not internal storage is available. Please unmount it as a disk drive, and try again." Card is a sandisk ultra microsdxc uhs-1 card, 64GB, class 10
