How can I use my smart watch to control audio to other Bluetooth devices

Ok so basically I have a portable Bluetooth speaker to play my music on while I'm on the go, but I would like to use my smart watch to control the playback (play, pause, next, volume, etc.). I'm wondering if this is possible and if so how.
Phone: Samsung galaxy s5
Watch: Smart Watch (doesn't have a brand)
Speaker: Phillips Portable

If the watch is Android Wear (some no-name ones are not, as are some Samsung), the Google Play Music app has a watch component that allows for music control.
