    Every time I use my phone my cheek hits the mute button. The person on the other end disconnects thinking I have just hung up on them.

    Sounds like your issue is more of a hardware issue. Your phone should have a proximity sensor that disables the screen (both the actual display and the touch function) when the phone is near your ear. If the proximity sensor fails for some reason, you'll either experience what you are or an always-black screen during calls (depending on failure mode).
