I'm sorry if some one has asked this question i am now and always been search challenged
i have a droid MX Pro 4K running 5.1*
I am trying to get total voice control over it. it apperas that it can be done.
the google button works when you sat ok google but if you go to the voice search button nopes not work. the mic on the kb does not work.
went searching and stumbled accors an app called voice access but it say since I am disabled in the carribean you can't have it. geofencing just drives me nuts..
i have been as intutive as this tiny mind will let me i have dug deep in the setting all the stuff for vice control are on but still nothing. i have restarted the device and still nothing.
any suggestions. i can't type my way out of a paper bag
thanks

It matters because Android devices are not universally the same. TV boxes like that one may not have access to the Google Play Store, and if they do, they may not be fully compatible with as many apps as a phone or tablet. It's also helpful to know the specs, and to see what kinds of features it may have or may be lacking (like, for example, a microphone -- I haven't been able to find anything yet about a built-in mic).

Well I am sorry I guess I am to stupid to live..
It seems to me that if you have any computer devicce you should be able to do what you want with it. You add periferals and they work with the OS. but then what do I know.. I'm just a silly ol'fart with a tiny brain.. My mike works with skype it works with google search I have google play even though I don't like it.
I have attached to screen shots that show what the droid info is. I hope this helps..
The more this tech moves forward the less I like it.. I am a PC person most of the time but unfortuntally they died nd I do not have the time to get them fixed.
Sorry if I sound kirt but this stuff has extreamely frustrated me. like I said before the eltist attitude of Geofencing drive me nuts
Give me a horse and buggy.
Much graitude
:'(

Sorry for the frustration. It's possible the manufacturer didn't include a mic because they figured the box would only be used as a TV box, and not a more full-fledged Android device. Or it's possible they omitted it because they wanted to be as cheap as possible. You'd have to ask them to know for sure.

Remember that Android devices are not the same as PCs, so the same external mic you use on a PC won't necessarily work on an Android device. PCs have a dedicated microphone jack for external mics, while Android devices usually don't -- instead, it'll be a headphone jack that also includes a microphone contact (for those headsets that also have built-in mics). You could try plugging one of those into the headphone jack (assuming the device has one) and see if the microphone on the headset works.

Thank you for trying to aleviate my frustration I have a list of about 10 things that are driving me crazy with this droid, but I know I can't digress in this thread so I have to start other ones to see how they can be resolved if at all,
I know that are not the same as a PC but if I understand correctly this OS is based on Linux and I would think that would be able to do this.
What I really don't understand is if my logitec mic works with Skype and " Ask Google" what ever it is called why won't in other places. I had a diffent box made by the same Co. and it was working but that box had a OS (4.1) melt down and now I am trying to figure out how to repair that. I have stayed away from Apple due to moral and philosophical reason so that option is out.
I just don't get it. if it works in one place why don't it work in another place?
So then I geuss my other question is. How does one know when researching to buy one of these boxes its going to work?? Tablets and phones are to small for my vision?? hence the reason I have it attached to a 32 inch TV

I may have misunderstood a little bit before -- I don't think I realized that the box does respond to some voice commands, but not others. Did you say that you're using an external mic from Logitech, or is that mic incorporated into a Logitech keyboard?

You don't necessarily need an Android TV box for use with a large monitor or TV. There are tablets that can connect via cable (usually MHL adapter, sometimes SlimPort) to the TV's HDMI port, allowing it to mirror the screen.

MHL® – Devices
http://www.slimportconnect.com/slimport-supported-devices/

Since many manufacturers are relying more on wireless connections, you might not see the very latest tablets listed there, but you can still find plenty of those tablets, either used or refurbished, for a decent price. In your situation, I'm suggesting this kind of hard-wired connection over wireless, because in my experience, the latter is more prone to stutter or lag, and there can be TV compatibility frustrations as well.

No worries I was late in life before my dylexia was discovered so.. sometimes I hink I have said everything it just never get to the hands..Yes the box respomds to SOME voice I have a logitec Camera and it works with skype.. and when I do that "Ok Google" it hears me and responds. but like now since I am having to type if I push the Mic .. it looks like it gonna work but Nopes never responds..
Thank you for the link I will do the research.. The small delemma is that I suspect you are leading me to a N America supplier.. by the time you add postage it starts shoot the price way higher than if I can find it here.. Which I doubt. I guess I have to get my guest room finished so I can have folks carry it here .. what Snow Bird does not want to spend the winter in the Caribbean:D You brought a good point I hate wireless I just don't thinnk it is as fast as a dedicated line. so I don't use it.

Here is a tid bit.. The G icon for google search works by voice.. BUT the Icon with a Mic does not respond

Many Thanks

Those links are just for the MHL and SlimPort sites. I'm guessing you can find a cable on Amazon or some other retailer site in your region.

Another thought -- open your Google app, swipe in from the left, tap Settings>Voice>"OK Google" detection, and make sure Always On is switched on. Does that make a difference?

½
¸“ Nopes no difference. The things i found was i can now say ok google any where and it comes up. You did let me find something real scary ... It was this area that saves all my ask google stuff out on that cloud so now i know ANYBODY can see that. I do not trust the gatekeepers since Cerberus is not on duty.
This is so frustrating i am guessing i just need to accept my lot that it is just not going to work... Just give me a .dll SIGH..
Many thanks

I just wish i could find away to get that Voice Access app outside of google play at least i could SEE if it would help

Am I understanding correctly that you'd at least like the Google search bar widget to recognize your voice commands if you tap the microphone icon in it, and this isn't happening? If so, I wonder if installing an alternative launcher (like Nova Launcher) would make a difference.

Nope the google search bar works. if i was to want ANYTHING would be able to talk and have it type. that does not work.
thank you for a nice chuckle i have already added the nova launcher. this box came with a Ugly cluttered launcher, that was a hurt on the eyes. Maybe if i go back to that i can see if this problem is solved there SIGH
Thank you
It took me 15 min just to type this responce
