    I can't find any setting that does this. Camera Storage setting says "phone" and it's grayed out.

    Can the device see the sd card? If yes, force stop the camera app and wipe its cache and data.
    If no, try a different sd card.

    Yes, the device recognizes the SD card, which is a new Samsung EVO 64GB UH-1, Class 10 card. The card was properly formatted and I have been able to move other apps and data to it, though Marshmallow, or the Moto4G Play itself, doesn't allow some apps to be moved.

    I followed your suggestion. It allowed me to reset the camera, but once again the storage choice says "phone" and is grayed out so I can't change it.
